Hoo boy...

Scott and I are buying a house. Probably. It's actually a townhouse in nearby Frederick, and it's quite a fixer-upper, but it's cheap. And it might be ours.

To make a long story short, we happened upon a listing (link may not work for very long!) for a townhouse near our friends' place. We went to see it, contacted a real estate agent, got approved and made an offer. The offer was rejected, but a counter offer was accepted. Now we are waiting, though I'm not sure what for. I was told there may be an inspection this weekend, and we might close in a couple of weeks or so.

This is the best part: the house comes with a great story. And by great I mean terrible, but amusing to me nonetheless. The house was built in 2006, and was purchased as an investment property. The owner rented it out, but (unbeknown to him) his tenants were drug dealers. Awesome. These lovely people trashed the place in an unholy way. Eventually the police showed up at their door- with a battering ram, by the looks of the dent in the front door. They were evicted or went to jail or something, after not paying the rent for several months. The owner found himself upside down on a mortgage he had no means of paying, and has been trying desperately to unload this property ever since. The house has been on the market for 282 days or so, as nobody apparently wants to buy a crack house, even if it is only 3 years old. The bank is about to foreclose.

Then come Scott and I. Always willing to profit from others' misfortune, we want to buy the crack house. It needs some love, but structurally it is fine. With a good scrubbing, new carpet/flooring, and a fresh coat of paint, it could be perfect. We are pretty freaking excited. Wish us luck... if we get it, there will be pictures soon.
