(Obligatory) 100 Things About Me

1. My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving, hands down. There is almost no commercialization, no presents, no pomp and circumstance... just awesome food. And who doesn't love autumn?

2. I have one sister and one brother. They are 8 and 10 years older than me, respectively.

3. I got married at the tender age of 19.

4. My husband is 12 years older than me.

5. My step-daughter is 12 years younger than me.

6. I am a raging atheist...

7. But I find religions fascinating.

8. I love horror movies/books, especially if there are ghosts involved.

9. My husband was only my second serious relationship (the other one was only 9 months long!)

10. I am socially awkward.

11. I have a pug, but he may actually be a very hairy goblin.

12. I really wish my hair was capable of creating dreadlocks. Sadly, it was not meant to be.

13. I love elephants and crows.

14. I love doing puzzles- namely sudoku, nonograms and cryptograms.

15. Both my parents died when I was in high school.

16. My aunt taught me to knit when I was 18.

17. I eat like a small child (apple + piece of toast + yogurt = meal).

18. I don't like to cook.

19. I have serious issues with worms, especially when they are all over the ground when it rains.

20. I'm very picky about my fruit. I refuse to eat mealy apples.

21. I love garlic.

22. I suck at sharing, and am pretty self-absorbed.

23. I can be a total slacker.

24. I have a fear of amputees.

25. I love plants, but have a tendency to kill them.

26. I hand machine a part for guidance systems in tanks, missiles, and things of that sort. It makes me feel like a less-tough Rosie the Riveter.

27. I don't drink. I don't have a reason why, I just don't.

28. I smoked for seven-ish years, and quit three years ago.

29. I really hate hot weather.

30. I could never vacation in a hot or tropical place. The idea of going to the Bahamas or some such place makes me cringe.

31. I am uncomfortable in open water.

32. Probably because I am not a strong swimmer.

33. My guiltiest pleasure is watching American Idol. I am ashamed.

34. I went for a year without a TV (on purpose).

35. I was a vegetarian for nine months, but sucked at it.

36. I refuse to eat any type of seafood. I hate it.

37. I hate fur. Real or fake, it just looks ridiculous.

38. I drink a lot of cranberry juice.

39. I am oddly turned on by movie serial killers (young Hannibal Lector, Michael Meyers, etc.).

40. I hate Walmart with a passion and refuse to shop there.

41. I went to Denmark, Norway, Finland and Sweden within one week when I was 15.

42. I am German, Swedish and English.

43. Supposedly, I am a direct descendant of William the Conqueror, Charlemagne, and an American witch named Susanna Martin.

44. I don't want babies.

45. I am cavity prone.

46. I have a motorcycle helmet with pink flowers on it.

47. My top 3 TV shows are Monk, The Office, and Bones

48. I love dark chocolate.

49. I am sad that Macy's bought Marshall Field's, and destroyed a Chicago icon.

50. I love books, and hope to have my own library some day.

51. I have very dry skin.

52. I have crappy circulation.

53. I look really young. Two weeks ago a nurse told me I didn't look a day over 15.

54. I sound even younger. Most people look surprised when they hear me talk for the first time, and I get asked on the phone if my Mommy is home all the time.

55. I burn very easily, and tend to avoid the sun.

56. I love fruit, especially red delicious apples, d'anjou pears, and mangoes.

57. My favorite color is green, but I love earth tones too.

58. I love old houses (1940's and older) and hope to have one someday.

59. I love Grand Theft Auto! I played Liberty and Vice City, but never got into San Andreas. I hope the new one is good...

60. I love coffee, but it makes me nutty.

61. I can't kill bugs unless they're really tiny.

62. I like math.

63. My husband and I moved to Maryland two and a half years ago.

64. Moving was probably the best thing to happen to us- we both got great jobs and became good at being grown up.

65. I have terrible posture, and hunch over a lot.

66. I have never broken a bone or even needed crutches.

67. I was in the Gifted program when I was little.

68. I have a terrible memory.

69. I am completely unobservant.

70. I've been in 3 car accidents (and was at fault for all 3) but have never gotten a ticket (the tickets for the accidents were all dismissed).

71. I love being crafty, and have dabbled in knitting, crochet, sewing, painting, beading, and more.

72. But I am a terrible artist.

73. I am a little afraid to start any video game, because I tend to become obsessed.

74. I wash my hands a lot.

75. One of my tonsils has been swollen for 5 years.

76. I've had a shard of optical fiber embedded in my finger for over a week. I'm hoping it will work it's way out on it's own.

77. I still get my left and right mixed up.

78. I once shaved the bottom half of my head.

79. I am left handed.

80. I can't sing.

81. And I can't dance.

82. I'm not very good at letting things go.

83. I have very little fashion sense.

84. I really cannot stand Christmas lights that blink in any way.

85. I think hot tubs are super gross. It's like people soup!

86. I love paper and stationery. I want to make my own paper!

87. I don't like Pergo floors... it's just not the same.

88. I had a death fixation when I was little. Apparently I freaked out my mom on few occasions by saying that I wanted to die so I could see my grandparents.

89. I don't like white floors, counters or furniture. Or anything, really.

90. I keep bags in my car in case I need to barf while driving.

91. I am very indecisive.

92. I'd like to grow my own Bonsai tree (I've tried but always wind up killing them).

93. I have seven tattoos.

94. I own a switchblade.

95. I have two moles in a jar (technically they're skin tags). I had them removed a several years ago, and asked if I could keep them.

96. I have roller skates.

97. I like to sit in the middle of the couch.

98. I have approximately two miles of yarn in my stash.

99. I had a tetanus shot a month ago, and it hurt like hell.

100. I need more yarn.

This Is Better.

Now I have one blog for all things knitty, and one for everything else. This blog has no theme or even a real reason for existing, leaving it open to anything and everything. I'm in the midst of coming up with the obligatory list of 100 Things About Me... stay tuned for that.
